Obama's Grandmother Dies
Barack Obama's grandmother has died of cancer in Hawaii.Madelyn Dunham was 86. Details from The Honolulu Advertiser and The Chicago Tribune.
Cancer wasn't mentioned by name when Obama visited Dunham last week. But since Obama took an extraordinary day off from campaigning to visit her, it was assumed that she was close to death.
The Advertiser notes that "Dunham had already voted for her grandson in early, absentee voting."

Deat President Obama, (i wanted to be the first to call you that). I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing. She is still right there with you all the way, even more so now that she can watch over you at all times. She should be very proud of you, she was ahead of herself when you were growing up, realizing that an african american will and should suceed at anything they try. i am a caucasin women having grown up in a small ND town and i am so proud that i can see a african american president. god bless you and your wonderful grandmother. Let me start by congtatulating you & you wonderful family on your victory, Mr President. I'm sorry to hear about your grandma's passing, by what i read we can see how much she meant and means for you. I know how it feels losing loves ones, first i lost my mother, then my father and the only person that held the family strong passed away this year which was my grandma. The way i see it she's at a better place looking over us, she's our ANGEL. I know she is very proud of what you and your family have accomplished, don't worry you have an ANGEL over your shoulder leading every step that you make. May God bless you and your family, from a family of three of South Texas.
