Mister Lawrencium
Interesting new profile by editor Paul Hehn of Ernest O. Lawrence, the creator of the cyclotron and the father of "big science." His creations led to the discovery of lawrencium, californium, and those other crazy elements at the end of the periodic table of the elements.Lawrence having his own personal element reminds us of cartoonist Gary Larson, who has a chewing louse named for him.

No mention of Lawrencium would be complete without The Elements, by Tom Lehrer
Excellent point.
May I note that Who2 also has a proflie of Tom Lehrer. One of the links is an interesting where-are-they-now story from 2000 in the San Francisco Weekly.
